F.A.Q.

I’m installing a Vigipack® product with transmission to a remote device. Can we validate communication with the network (IP and/or ISDN) together?
    1st case With TCP/IP, network security does not allow us to establish remote access to validate communications between our technical platform and your on-site equipment. 2nd case
    With an ISDN line,
  • call your telephone operator to make sure that the line is up and running;
  • contact our technical division (+33 1.41.81.11.66) with the telephone number of the line to be tested, to validate the remote connection from PMC.
    (Installation of modem. Attention: depending on the Vigipack®, product, the ISDN modem may be internal or external)
I am on site, looking at my Vigipack®, and it is showing errors. How can I identify the type of failure?
    1st case - Using Windows 98, the screen shows a surface scandisk.
  • One of the hard drives is faulty*.
  • 2nd case - The product is switched on, but it doesn’t come on.
  • Replace the power unit to check whether this is the source of the failure. If the power supply fan is not rotating, replace the power unit directly*.
  • 3rd case – On the screen there is a white dash on a black background.
  • Check that the “keyboard-mouse” connection is the right way round. If this isn’t the case, reconnect it correctly and reboot the product;
  • Otherwise, the main cause of the failure comes from the mother board. This requires the equipment to be sent back to PMC.
  • 4th case – One of the “camera presence” LEDs is out.
  • Connect another camera to the input that has the defect.
  • If the problem persists, it comes from the digitizing* or acquisition* board. For a diagnosis, please contact (+33 1.41.81.11.66) our technical platform for a more in-depth analysis.
  • If the problem is solved, the video signal provided by the disconnected camera does not respect the required characteristics. The cause of the failure thus concerns the BNC connector or the camera itself.
  • Comments *PMC-Vigipack® has a certified training centre. A course for level 1 & 2 maintenance for Vigipack® products is available (see the Training section on the Website). Repairs can be made on site or in your workshops, without necessarily returning equipment to the factory. Each piece of Vigipack® equipment has a unique serial number that is specific to the machine. Our technical division will ask you for this number before analysing the equipment. PMC-Vigipack® also has regional branches and back-up stocks allowing you to get replacement material quickly.

I’ve forgotten my user password. How can I open a new work session on Vigipack®?

By default in Windows 98 and Windows XPe, the user name is “Initial” and the password is “initial”. Your installer may have modified user names and passwords; contact your installer. He will give you the user name and password for your machine. If you are an installer, contact our technical division (+33 1.41.81.11.66), citing the machine’s serial number to get the password.

How can I set the parameters for a Vigipack® using my laptop?

By using the “Teleparam” function on the “Vigipack®Console”. For more information on using “Teleparam”, refer to the technical documentation for “Vigipack®Console”.
By using the “VNC” software previously installed on your laptop. ATTENTION: the function must be activated on the product (not by default in XPe)

What is the procedure for updating the software version of my equipment?

Remotely: via Vigipack®Console, using the “update” function, you can choose one or more sites to update. Locally: via USB stick or CD, the versions will be provided by your regional contact person, or you can download them (www.vigipack.com).

Following a requisition, the law requires me to provide films/images for a defined period. What do I need to do?

Vigipack® products have an “Extract” function that enables you to choose an image or range of sequences to be converted into MPEG4 or AVI format and to store them locally on the hard drive in the “Export” partition or on an external drive. In all of our images or films, you will find the name of the site, the name of the camera and its number, as well as the date and time.

I’ve noticed a time difference on the Vigipack®. Which tools will allow me to put it right?

The “NTP” time server function, whose parameters you can set in the “configure” window, enables you to set the time for fixed servers. The “Vigipack®Console” enables you to set the time on remote products.

How can I save my parameters on my USB stick? Is it possible to restore these same parameters on another piece of equipment in the Vigipack® range?

In the parameters in the “save” screen, you can save your parameters on an external medium.
Usually, saved settings are re-used on the same type of machine.
However, settings are compatible with technical iso characteristics (hardware configuration and software version).

How can I upgrade the technical characteristics of my product?

We have a technical base of your product in relation to its serial number. Contact the sales division (+331.41.81.11.78), which will guide you as to any possible developments.

Which options are compatible with my Vigipack® equipment?

UPS, Flash disk and external ISDN modem options are compatible with Cube2 and Modulo. For specific options, hard drives, digitizing boards, extension boards, etc., contact your regional sales representative.
